With Halloween around the corner and co-curricular days matched up with the festive weekend, students now have the opportunity to de-stress from midterms and make the most of this spooky holiday. With only a few days left before Halloween, it’s important to ensure that you know which spots will give you the most spook for your buck.
ROM Friday Night Live: Goosebumps
On October 28, the ROM will be hosting its weekly Friday Night Live event with live entertainment and DJs. This week’s the theme is Halloween, with the title of the night being Goosebumps. Guests have the ability to mingle, look at the gallery and enjoy light refreshments. This is an event you don’t want to miss.
Casa Loma: The Legends of Horror
Toronto’s own Camelot has morphed into a haunted house. This landmark, museum and wedding chapel has become one of the city’s most highly frequented Halloween getaways. The haunted house is a self-guided tour stretching a 1.2 km trail. Guests wind their way through the castle’s gardens and tunnels while being spooked by a number of theatrical characters, including Dracula, the Creature from the Black Lagoon and the Phantom of the Opera.
Rocky Horror Picture Show
For those who want to get some rest in these Reading Days and stay cozy, there’s plenty of Halloween fun for you as well. This musical production, first released in 1975, continues to break stereotypes and provide sinister musical fun for the whole family. Recently adapted for the small screen by Fox, the new adaptation continues to get rounds of applause. This is a must-watch, and the Halloween weekend is the best time to watch it.
Halloween Resurrection
You may have already seen the postering around York. On October 29 will be the 11th annual Halloween Resurrection event. This is the perfect event for club-goers, music lovers and dance fanatics. With 3,000 people in attendance last year, this event promises to be even bigger and better. It will be held at the International Plaza, and attendees are encouraged to dress up and show up.
Halloween Haunt
You really can’t go wrong with attending Canada’s Wonderland’s annual Halloween Haunt this October. With haunted houses, mazes and rides, this event is surely one that will give you the most spook for your buck. And with mild temperatures this year, the common complaints of it being too cold during the event can easily be dealt with by sporting a light jacket and a toque.
