From spooky to silly, October brings all kinds of events. While there are certainly too many to list, here are a few you might want to check out before they vanish into the night.
Glad Day Bookshop Queer ‘Singles’ Trivia | Oct. 22
If you’re looking to meet new people in the city, try heading to Glad Day Bookshop for their trivia night — BIPOC edition — where you’ll be placed in a group of four to six people you don’t know. With two rounds of trivia, you will have met 10–12 people by the end of the night. If you’re looking to meet someone new (or test your trivia knowledge) this October why not check it out.
Creatures of Kulture | Oct. 23
Discover BIPOC folklore through drag and burlesque performances in this Halloween-themed show at Glad Day Bookshop. For $27.96, you will be immersed into the world of “mystical and spooky tales, folklore, and creatures [from] a variety of BIPOC cultures” brought to life by the seasoned Drag King El Experimento and Boylesque artists. It’s definitely worth paying a visit to this historic bookshop for its ambiance and drinks, as well as raffles and prizes.
Storm Crow Manor | Oct. 25
While the self described “nerd bar” is here all year round, for fans of all things nerdy you might want to check out “Halloween at the Manor,” a costume party unlike any other. The $45 price includes admission, a complimentary random Shot or mocktail token, 3 raffle tickets, and a treat bag. It might be worth checking out for all you pop culture fans out there.
ROM After Dark: Halloween | Oct. 25 and 26
While The ROM is a classic for field trips and people of all ages, ROM After Dark is a monthly 19+ event. And this month, it gets spooky. For $40 you get access to the ROM after-hours in addition to drinks, food, music, and a scavenger hunt throughout the museum.
Candlelight Concerts | Oct. 31
If you appreciate the ambiance that classic Halloween music brings to the season, then you can’t miss “A Haunted Evening of Halloween Classics” presented by Candlelight Concerts at the Metropolitan Community Church. Tickets are selling out quickly!
Canada’s Wonderland Halloween Haunt | October Thursdays–Sundays (excludes Oct. 31)
Everyone knows Canada’s Wonderland, the country’s most famous amusement park. Its “Halloween Haunt” is probably just as well known as the park itself. Explore a variety of Halloween-themed attractions as the familiar park changes for October and embraces the spooky season.
Snakes & Latte Trivia Night | Oct. 31
Snakes & Latte is a board game cafe with a couple locations in Toronto. The one on College Street is hosting a “Halloween Extravaganza Karaoke & Trivia Night.” While ticket prices vary depending on group size, admission includes access to four hours of trivia, karaoke, and board games. If you don’t have any Halloween night plans, grab some friends and test your horror trivia knowledge.
