Lingerie football league holds tryouts in Toronto

The future of lingerie football in Toronto seems to be up in the air. No owner, no coach and no sponsors.
About 140 women showed up for tryouts in Toronto at the end of April. With lots of hype in the local papers, Mitch Mortaza, owner and founder of the American Lingerie Football League was on hand. He seemed to be running the whole show, with some promising future coaches, recent university players as well as high school coaches helping with the tryouts.

A few York students were trying to find a spot on a team, including fourth-year kinesiology and health student Heather Tomlinson.
Representatives from Molson and Copps Coliseum were present, seeing if the team was interested in playing a proposed all-star game in July.
The playing style is full-contact and is very similar to other indoor men’s arena football leagues.
The ladies’ uniforms will consist of helmets, shoulder and elbow pads, garters, bras and panties.
The question is, is this football team headed for success in Toronto or is it just a big fantasy? Either way, Mitch Mortaza has high hopes.
“As much success as the league has seen through its first two seasons in the United States, we expect greater success in Canada,” he said.
