As the summer season approaches, the York Lions are ready to welcome some new faces to the playing field. The Lions sports camp is opening its doors to young athletes between the ages of eight and 16, granting them the opportunity to polish their athletic skills. This offer covers a wide range of sports areas including: basketball, tennis, soccer and track-and-field.
The newest addition to the bunch is football camp with ages starting at seven-years-old. The camps start in the month of July for four weeks, with each week focusing on a particular sport. Here is a brief look at the camps.
Tennis
The tennis camp runs for both boys and girls daily at the Tait McKenzie Centre. This will consist of group instruction for beginners or entry-level players and will focus on tennis skills, game tactics and most importantly, having fun in the environment.
Football
The football camp is the newest of the bunch and young athletes will be able to work with York coaches and current players. The camp will also have an emphasis on conditioning, individual positions, offensive and defensive team play.
Basketball
The focus of this camp would be on team games, individual skills and teamwork.
