Joseph Sanguedolce remembers his long-time friend and employee as a “people person.”
Osmundo Campana, a dedicated York employee for 22 years, passed away Nov. 25 due to diabetes-related conditions. He was found in the Fine Arts building that morning.
“All of his staff loved him dearly,” said Sanguedolce. “His death was very shocking to us all. You can never get over something like this.”
Campana was a night shift operational supervisor at custo- dial services, campus services and business operations (CSCSBO). He had worked as a custodial staff at York since 1988 and was promoted to a supervisor position in 2003.
Friends and family attended Campana’s funeral Nov. 30 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Friend and colleague Sanguedolce, the manager of custodial services at the CSCSBO, was also in attendance.
Sanguedolce said Campana’s death was particularly hard because it was not expected.
“I will never forget him,” he said. “I do find some comfort in knowing that he would be urging us to go on. Osmundo would be saying to us ‘I’m OK. Keep doing what you need to do.’”
York’s flag flew half-mast in Campana’s memory Nov. 30.
Anyone willing to make a donation in Campana’s name can do so by giving to a charity of their choice, according to a Nov. 29 YFile article.
