A fly parasite is threatening bee colonies across North America. Biology professor John Hafernik from San Fransisco State University researched collapsing bee colonies. He discovered many were attacked by a parasite, causing “zombie-like” behavior, such as disorientation and uncontrollable behavior. The bees abandon the hive until parasite larvae emerge from behind their heads. The issue has scientists and honey enthusiasts worried for the future of their favorite flying insect.

New nightmare fuel discovered on ocean floor
Scientists discovered a treasure trove of new species in Antarctica’s so-called uninhabitable waters. There is a complex ecosystem thriving by hot geothermal vents 2,400 metres below on the ocean floor. British researchers were shocked to discover new species of yeti crabs, a pale unidentified octopus and a predatory seven-limbed starfish. Three more nightmarish reasons never to visit Antarctica’s ocean floor.

Teksavvy users to pay more for pirated music and free porn
Teksavvy subscribers can thank the CRTC for their internet bill hike. The Chatham-based ISP is adhering to the CRTC’s ruling and will raise fees by three or four dollars in February. Luckily, the bandwidth meter will be halted from 2 a.m. – 8 a.m. giving the truly tech savvy their chance to go wild (figuratively).

Canadian game developer Bioware will easily recuperate the $100 million spent on their new MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic, experts say. Prior to the new year, the game surpassed one million subscribed users. Even more, players have logged over 60 million hours since December 20. At $14.99 a month, the Force is strong with Bioware’s profit margins.
