A string of robberies across campus follows peculiar pattern

A series of robberies at York over the past month hint at an emerging pattern of mob thefts.
The first reported robbery occurred January 14 at 1:15 a.m. in the Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) building. The male victim—a Seneca@York student—described five male suspects, two of Hispanic background, three unknown. They were described as ranging in height from five-foot-nine to six feet tall and between 20 and 25 years old. All five suspects were caught on CCTV security cameras.
Another reported robbery took place January 26 in the Curtis Lecture Halls (CLH) at 5:35 p.m. Mirroring the previous incident, the victim was another male Seneca@York student. He contacted York security to report a stolen BlackBerry Bold and Louis Vuitton toque.
The suspects this time were seven black males averaging five-foot-seven, appearing to be between 20 and 23 years of age, six of whom sported curly hair and the seventh was shaved or bald. The victim also suffered minor injuries in an altercation with the suspects that began outside Ross, carried through CLH and culminated on Campus Walk.
This is not the first time gang theft has occurred on campus. Last year on Monday, October 17, a York community member reported a cellphone robbery that involved three black male suspects in their early twenties, averaging six feet tall.
