Toronto police have arrested and charged 19-year-old York student Mohammad Hadian with one count of sexual assault after the incident was reported Friday morning at Calumet Residence.
York Security Service and Toronto Police responded to the report of the alleged sexual assault that took place at 2:24 a.m. on Friday, September 7.

Police say a group of students were gathered for a birthday party at the Keele campus student residence. Following the party, an 18-year-old woman, who is also a York student, went to her bedroom, and a man followed her, closed the door, turned off the lights, and allegedly sexually assaulted her.

York administration sent out a security bulletin email to students Friday afternoon.

The University has issued Hadian a “temporary suspension” under the Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities, meaning he is not allowed to return to the residence or York’s campus pending the outcome of the trial.

He was scheduled to appear in court on the morning of Friday, September 7.
