The Ministry of Labour has laid charges against two construction companies, following a fatal accident last year at the York University site of the TTC’s Toronto-Spadina Subway Extension project.
Kyle Knox, 24, died at the York construction site October 11, 2011 when a drilling drill rig collapsed on the front-end loader he operated, trapping and killing him. Five other workers were also injured.
Project construction companies OHK-FCC GP Canada Inc., and Advanced Construction Techniques Inc. each face four charges for failing to protect the health and safety of workers on the site.
The maximum penalty for each conviction is a $500,000 fine.
Representatives from the companies are scheduled to appear in court November 1.
