Police have arrested a man in connection to a firearm-related investigation that took place near the Village.
After receiving complaints from members of the community, 31 Division Community Response Unit officers were sent to patrol the area surrounding 1 Fountainhead Road on January 10, police say.
According to police, the investigation of a man during the officers’ foot patrol led to the seizure of a 9 mm pistol. The reason for the investigation is unknown at this time.
Akil Whyte, 20, of no fixed address, faces a total of 13 charges, including three counts of failure to comply with recognizance, possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, and possession of proceeds of crime, police say.
He was scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Friday, January 11, 2013, at 10 a.m.
